Woman arrested in kidnapping of 2-year-old, 2-yr-old girl

SANBANI, Philippines — A woman was arrested Sunday for the abduction of two-year old and 2-month-old girls in Sanbi province, police said.

Police found the girls, both from the Sanbi area, with their mothers in a field about 10 kilometers (6 miles) northwest of the town of Mato Grosso in the province’s Barangay Sanbi.

The girl was kidnapped Sunday around 9:30 a.m. when her mother went to a house to retrieve her younger sister, police Superintendent Rolando Sanchez said.

Her younger sister was abducted in the same area two days earlier.

Sanchez said the abducted girls were both in the house at the time of the abduction.

Sergio Pimentel, a spokesperson for the Barangays Sanbi Police District, said the 2- and 3-year olds were found in the field where the abducted parents were holding their young children.

The kidnappers demanded that the girls be brought to the area and raped, Pimentels said.

The 2-week-old baby girl was taken by her mother to a nearby house, but the kidnappers did not release her to the parents, Piments said.

Pimentels described the kidnapper as a white man in his 20s, who appeared to be in his 30s.

He wore a dark jacket and a long-sleeved shirt, and was wearing dark sunglasses, he said.

Sevillos statement said the kidnaps took place about 10:00 a.c. on Sunday.

The kidnappers allegedly made a call to the family, who arrived at the field and spotted a dark sedan driving toward them, the statement said.

As they drove away, the kidnapers approached the group and demanded that they drive to a rural area, the police said in a press release.

They then left the area, and fled in the dark.

The abducted girl was brought to a home in the village of Sanbi where her parents were waiting for her, police added.

The other child, 2 months old, was left behind at the home, Pimentales said.
