What the parents and grandparents of 9-year-old Carter Gardner really need to know about the child sex abuse scandal

The parents of 9 year old Carter Gardner say they are devastated by what they believe is a cover-up and that he was abused by a priest at St. Patrick’s Parish in New York City.

The father of the 9-years-old boy has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the Diocese of Syracuse.

According to the lawsuit, the diocese covered up evidence of sexual abuse at St Patrick’s and failed to report that the abuse occurred in 2009 to authorities in 2009.

The suit also alleges that the dioceses actions violated his constitutional rights and that a priest allegedly abused Gardner from 2008 to 2009.

The Diocese said the suit was filed in a federal court in Syracuse.

In a statement to ABC News, the Diocesces attorney wrote: “The diocese is aware of the pending lawsuit and is reviewing the allegations in this matter.

The diocese believes that the lawsuit is without merit.”

It was not immediately clear if the Diucas attorney has an attorney listed for him.

The case is being handled by the Department of Justice.
